Mathematics


This degree program is designed to prepare students for graduate study in mathematics and mathematical careers in education, government, and private industry.  The degree requires successful completion of 120 semester hours, including:  (1) the General Education Program  which must include six hours of one modern language; (2) the mathematical prerequisite courses (6 hours) which may be partially or wholly waived with sufficient placement criteria; (3) the Core Requirements (33 hours) in mathematics and computer science listed below; (4) one of the four elective concentrations below (9 hours); and (5) seven additional hours of elective courses in mathematics, chosen from  MATH 290 and above, excluding MATH 305 and MATH 414.  Minimum 2.00 GPA required for major.

Six hours of statistics.

Note:


MATH 103  and/or MATH 104  will be waived for those students establishing “equivalent proficiency” as defined by the Department of Mathematics  (Mathematics ACT 25 or 28).
