Mathematics
This degree program is designed to prepare students for graduate study in mathematics and mathematical careers in education, government, and private industry. The degree requires successful completion of 120 semester hours, including: (1) the General Education Program which must include six hours of one modern language; (2) the mathematical prerequisite courses (6 hours) which may be partially or wholly waived with sufficient placement criteria; (3) the Core Requirements (33 hours) in mathematics and computer science listed below; (4) one of the four elective concentrations below (9 hours); and (5) seven additional hours of elective courses in mathematics, chosen from MATH 290 and above, excluding MATH 305 and MATH 414. Minimum 2.00 GPA required for major.

(3) Preparation for Graduate Study

Seven (7) additional hours of elective courses in mathematics, chosen from MATH 290 and above, excluding MATH 305 and MATH 414.
Recommended
Eight (8) hours of physics and three additional hours of computer programming.
