Music - Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (BS IND)

The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies-Music requires the successful completion of 120 semester hours including: (1) the General Education Program ; (2) the Music Program listed below; and (3) one or two disciplines listed below or develop an additional area of study detailed under the heading of BS Interdisciplinary Studies.  Application is required before the completion of 80 hours.  Note:  Students must earn at least 120 credit hours with no lower than a 2.50 GPA for each discipline represented in the B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies - Music degree program.

Music Program Requirements (39 Credit Hours)

Music Core Requirements

Choose one course from:

Applied Music Lessons (4 Credit Hours Total)
Students will complete four semesters of applied music from their chosen concentration area.  Students select from:

Major Ensemble (6 Credit Hours Total)
Students will complete six semesters in a major ensemble which can be repeated for credit.  Students select from:

Additional Program Requirement (18 to 20 Credit Hours)

In order to qualify for the B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies - Music degree, students must choose at least one discipline to support the Music Program requirements.  Students have the option of selecting one or more of the following disciplines to satisfy this requirement: (Option 1): Communications - Public Relations Emphasis; (Option 2): Communications - Theatre Emphasis; or (Option 3): Business Administration.  Students may also select another discipline of their choice to satisfy this additional program requirement.  However, those students must work with a Music faculty member to develop their own B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies - Music degree program; independently of the options noted above.
