Environmental Geosciences (Minor)

This minor provides students in any major with knowledge and skills in the Earth and environmental sciences that can be applied to a range of career paths, including business, health sciences, and journalism. Coursework and field experiences also prepare students to teach Earth Science in secondary schools.

Environmental Geosciences Minor Requirements:

16-17 Credit Hours

GEOL 101 Earth Processes, Resources, and the Environment (4)
or
GEOL 140 Geology and Environmental Issues in Appalachia (3)
or
PHSC 104 Concepts in Physical Science: Earth/Space Sciences (4)
and
GEOG 200 Digital Earth (3)
Select ten (10) or more hours from the following (no more than three (3) additional credit hours at the 100-level, and at least three (3) credit hours from 300-level or above):
- GEOL 150 Oceanography (3)
- GEOG 101 Humans and the Environment (3)
- Any 200-400 level GEOL courses
Note: This minor is not open to Environmental Geosciences majors.
