Physics (Minor)

The physics minor is open to all majors in order to broaden knowledge of fundamental physics principles, explore applications in current scientific developments, and increase efficiency in problem-solving and other transferrable skills used by professional scientists. The physics minor is designed to enhance understanding of physical processes and their application to chemical, geological, computational, biological, and environmental processes as well as the field of health care.

Physics Minor Requirements:

18 Total Credit Hours

PHYS 101 Introductory Physics (4)
and
PHYS 102 Intermediate Physics (4)
or
PHYS 201 University Physics with Calculus, Part 1 (4)
and
PHYS 202 University Physics with Calculus, Part 2 (4)

Physics Electives:

10 credit hours

(exclusive of PHYS 470 - PHYS 471 )

Including at least 3 hours of 300-level or higher coursework

The minor may include:

PHSC 219 Laboratory Research Methods and Ethics (1)
and one of the following:
CHEM 401 Physical Chemistry – Thermodynamics (3)
and
CHEM 407 Physical Chemistry Laboratory (1)
or
PHYS 105 Introductory Astronomy (4)
or
CHEM 402 Physical Chemistry – Quantum Mechanics (3)
