Psychology (BA)

The degree of Bachelor of Arts, with a major in psychology, requires successful completion of 120 semester hours, including (1) the Program of General Studies ; (2) the psychology program listed below; (3) the completion of a comprehensive exam; and (4) a program of electives or minor as worked out with a student's advisor.

Psychology


The general objective of the psychology program is to prepare students for professional training in the field of psychology by providing an overview of the essential methods and findings of experimental, clinical, and theoretical psychology. The primary theoretical orientation of the program is behavioral although the students will be exposed to multiple theoretical orientations. The scientist-practitioner model is emphasized in applied courses. Opportunities are provided for both human and non-human experimental research through environmental manipulation.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree may earn a major or a minor in psychology. Note required grade average as described in the Division of Social Sciences .

Television Courses

The Department of Psychology, in general, will not grant credit hours for the major or minor by educational television programming. Exceptions may be made with departmental consent.
