Entrepreneurship Minor Description

The Entrepreneurship Minor is designed for students in any major interested in transforming their passion into a viable venture, starting their own new business by exploiting market opportunities, or enhancing existing businesses with which they are currently engaged or plan to join prospectively.

The Entrepreneurship Minor builds on the foundational knowledge gained in the disciplines of the students' choice and business courses to inculcate an understanding of the process of creating and managing new ventures.  The minor develops the entrepreneurial mindset, presents entrepreneurial concepts, instills entrepreneurship spirit, and enhances entrepreneurial leadership skills.  Students will acquire knowledge to recognize entrepreneurial opportunities, create differentiated value, develop organizational capabilities, and launch new ventures to turn innovative ideas into viable businesses.

Emphasis is placed on the managerial, legal and marketing aspects of start-up businesses, including the implications of taxes.  The minor engenders a business plan that contains a commercially viable and ready-to-be-launched business that is also primed for WV State Level Collegiate Business Plan Competition.
