The degree of Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts requires the successful completion of 120 semester hours, including (1) the General Education Program; (2) completion of the Communication Core; and (3) an area of emphasis in at least one of the six Communication Arts areas.
General Education Requirements:
Within the General Education curriculum provided by the University, communication students are required to take COMM 101 and THEA 102. Taking one year of modern language is strongly recommended. Substitutions of the other general education courses may be taken as per the modern language substitution policy.
Or any/all of the remaining Communication Core courses.
COMM 450 may be replaced by a COMM elective for those students double majoring in Speech Communication and another discipline.
NOTE: Students may have more than one emphasis. However, the emphasis in Speech Communication may only be used as a stand-alone Communication Arts emphasis. It may not be used as a double emphasis with any other Communication Arts emphasis.
