CHEM 407 Physical Chemistry Laboratory

Co-requisites: CHEM 401 .

A laboratory course designed to demonstrate and apply the concepts presented in CHEM 401. Emphasis on advanced techniques in physical measurement, statistics, and error analysis. Includes structural and optical spectroscopy (IR, NMR, absorption, fluorescence), thermodynamic measurements, chemical kinetics, and dynamics. Students will develop problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills through an independent research project. Students are expected to be able to identify and follow professionally recommended safety practices. Must be taken concurrently with CHEM 401.

Three hours laboratory.
