History with an emphasis in Philosophy (BA)

The philosophy program provides students with a critical framework of ideas to integrate the basic conceptions of the natural sciences, the humanities, and the fine arts. The program includes the analytical study of the the problems of logic, knowledge, the nature of reality, ethical conduct, and aesthetic phenomenon.
Students may pursue a major in History with an area of emphasis in Philosophy. Students seeking either the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree in another discipline may pursue a minor in Philosophy. Be aware that the grade point average for work in the programs conforms to the standards of the Division of Social Sciences

Core Requirements:
The degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in history requires successful completion of 120 semester hours, including (1) the Program of General Studies which must include six hours of one foreign language; (2) courses within the history program OR the history with an area of emphasis in philosophy program as outlined below; and (3) a program of electives OR a minor as worked out with the student's adviser.
Television Courses: The Department of History, in general, will not grant credit hours for the major or minor by educational television programming. Exceptions may be made with departmental consent. Emphasis Requirements:
33 Hours Six hours (two courses) selected from the following cross-listed courses:
Nine hours (three courses) of upper level philosophy electives.
