Prerequisites: FIN 311 
Financial markets, or markets for financial assets, play an important role in the efficient functioning of a market economy. Financial Institutions are the organizations that make these markets function efficiently. This course will explore the structure of the financial system with an emphasis on the roles, operations, and regulations of financial institutions and markets. Some of the key topics covered are a) the role of the federal reserve bank, b) the term structure of interest rates, and c) the main types of risks incurred and managed by a financial institution.
