Concord has maintained its century and a half long tradition of teaching excellence while growing to University status. In addition to now offering 19 undergraduate programs of study, the University offers six (6) master’s degrees with additional undergraduate and graduate programs in development, including a data analytics at the undergraduate level and a Physician’s Assistant program at the graduate level. The University is also in the process of developing certificate programs.
CURise Programs:
The University also offers accelerated three-year degree pathways in select majors. These pathways are designed for students eager to complete their bachelor’s degrees as soon as possible in order to continue their professional studies beyond the bachelor’s. Currently, Concord University offers these accelerated pathways in a variety of majors that may lead to further study in preparation for medical and allied health professions.
Programs currently designed for an accelerated 3-year bachelor’s degree pathway include:
These programs, considered collectively, provide a substantial launching platform to many areas of post-graduate study in the Medical and Allied Health fields. Below is a partial listing of the fields in which our three-year graduates could continue their study and eventually be credentialed:
Audiology, Biomedical Research, Dental, Ecology, Environmental Science, Genetic Research, Genetic Counseling, Medical Doctorate, Molecular Biology, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Orthotics, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician’s Assistant, Podiatry, Prosthetics, Public Health, Public Health Administration, Psychology, Psychological Counseling, Resource Conservation, Speech Pathology, Veterinary Medicine.
3+1 Clinical Health, Professional, and STEM Programs:
3+1 programs allow Concord students to complete three years of coursework at Concord followed by a fourth year in an approved bachelor’s, graduate, or professional program at an accredited external institution. Credit hours for the fourth year are taken at the external institution and transferred to Concord. Tuition for the fourth year is paid to the external program rather than Concord.
Students in 3+1 programs will complete: (1) Concord’s General Education Program, (2) requirements for a 3+1 pathway in a designated major, and (3) 120 credit hours which include 24 to 30 hours at the external institution during the fourth year.
Examples of external programs include Clinical Laboratory Science (Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology), Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Optometry, or Doctor of Dentistry. Students may petition the appropriate department chair and the Dean of the College of Science, Mathematics, and Health for approval of other programs.
These programs may be fulfilled through Concord majors in Chemistry , Biology , and Health Sciences . Students should submit a letter of application indicating intent to pursue a 3+1 program to their academic advisor, the relevant department chair, and the Dean of the College of Science, Mathematics, and Health by August 1st prior to the fourth year of study.
Students should remain in close contact with their academic advisor to assure that all requirements for admission to a graduate or professional program are completed, as they can vary from school to school. Admission to clinical, graduate, and professional programs is competitive. Students who fail to be admitted will not be eligible for the 3+1 program and can finish their affiliated Concord major during a fourth year in residence in Athens.
The following requirements must be met for all 3+1 programs. Requirements 1 through 3 will satisfy Concord’s Residence Credit Policy.
- A minimum of 36 credit hours must have been earned at Concord University prior to matriculating to the external institution.
- Sixteen of the last 32 credit hours before entering graduate or professional school must have been completed at Concord University prior to matriculating to the external institution.
- At least nine credit hours of upper-level coursework for the major must have been earned at Concord University prior to matriculating to the external institution.
- Satisfy a minimum institutional and cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Meet the GPA minimum requirements specified for the major affiliated with the 3+1 program.
- Successful completion of the final 24-30 credit hours at the approved external institution with no grade less than a C (an official transcript must be sent to the Office of the Registrar). Students will register for one of the following Concord courses for Pass/Fail credit each semester during the fourth year: BIOL 460, CHEM 460, HS 460, or MDTH 460. The chair of the relevant department will schedule the course and be responsible for administrative oversight of the procedure.
Note that many graduate and professional programs can take two or more years to complete. Concord awards credit for the first 24 to 30 hours of the external program so that the baccalaureate degree will be earned before completion of the graduate or professional degree. Therefore, completion of the graduate or professional program is not a necessary requirement for the Concord degree.

Note:
Students seeking the Bachelor of Arts degree (but not degrees in Bachelor of Science, Business Administration, Education, Communication Arts, Computer Information Systems, or Social Work) will be required to complete six credit hours in one modern language. The BA in Interdisciplinary Studies will also require six credit hours of one modern language.
