History (BA)

Description


History is the study of the past. It shapes the present and sets the course for the future. The study of history enables students to gain a greater understanding of the people, events, and trends that have influenced the present, and provides the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to solve contemporary problems.

The program in History prepares students for graduate school in history and closely related disciplines, and a wide variety of careers in schools, college, and universities, museums, archives, and libraries, federal, state, and local government, law, tourism, and consulting.

Core


The degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in History requires the successful completion of 120 credit hours, which must include the following

(1) The General Education Program  
(2) Six (6) credit hours of one classical or modern language
     ​(Note: Classical or Modern language courses may be used to fulfill certain General Education
     requirements)
(3) Thirty-six (36) credit hours of courses within the major program as outlined below
(4) A set of electives and/or a minor as worked out the the student’s advisor
