Women's & Gender Studies (Minor)

The minor can be completed with a minimum of 16 credits from the following:

•  

• WGST 285 Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies (3)
• WGST 499 Women's & Gender Studies Capstone (1-3)

• WGST 499 is required after all other coursework is complete.  May be taken simultaneously with electives during final semester of program completion.

   

• 6 credits required from the following core classes:

• HIST 101 History of Civilization (3)
• PSY 205 Child and Adolescent Development (3)
• SOC 221 Gender & Sexualities (3)
• SOC 301 Sociology of Families (3)
• SOWK 302 Human Diversity (3)
• SOWK 320 Special Topics (1-3)

•  

  3 credits required from the following:

• H ED 306 Principles of Human Sexuality (3)
• PSY 203 Human Sexuality (3)

•  

  3 credits required of the following electives or approval of another course by the governing committee:

• ENGL 420 Special Topics (3)
• ENGL 440 Independent Study (1, 2, 3)
• SOC 320 Special Topics in Sociology (1-3) Violence in America
• SOWK 237 Human Behavior and the Social Environment Across the Lifespan (3)
• SOWK 350 Special Topics in Social Work (1-3) International Social Work

Students may also take up to 3 mini-courses through the Department of Humanities towards this requirement with approval from the governing committee.
